Contortionism Education in DC area

Hello all!
Since I was a child I've always been horrible in gym class except for any form of gymnastics - especially those involving conortionism or the trapeze.
In 2006 I was diagnosed with a medical condition called Ehlers-Danlos syndrome AKA Hypermobility Syndrome, which explains my life long flexibility. I've actually been disabled since 2006, but have been recently been getting much better.
I would love to start learning basic stretching techniques and eventually some more advanced contortionist positions (and maybe some trapeze for the fun of it).
Anyway, does anyone know where I might be able to begin learning these techniques in the DC/Baltimore area?

Auditions- Aberrant Behavior- Saturday June 7th @ Mamma Buzz 4-6M in Oakland arts district

I am having auditions for my new movie "Aberrant Behavior" Saturday June Seventh at Mamma Buzz Cafe in downtown Oaklands Art District 2318 Telegraph Ave from 4-6PM. I have already casted some of the roles and have people working on it, I just have not cast all of them yet and of course the female lead.

There will be some paid roles (of course the leads) but this is a low budget (around 25-35,000 or so) affair so it won't be a whole lot. Just to warn you.

Aberrant Behavior, is basically a love story about two self destructive anarchistic-y street kids who have an exaggerated form of pica, a disorder where people feel compelled to eat non-food materials, carpet, dirt, soap, drano, various chemicals, etc. as portrayed as a drug addiction. They have a very co-dependent relationship and with there disorders too , they literally destroy each other.

There's more to it, but that's the basic synopsis. If you can't make it to the auditions, you can send me a head shot with resume, or whatever you want. We can then decide when and where to meet.

THERE WILL BE SOME SEXUALITY AND NUDITY FOR THE TWO LEADS, AS WELL AS MISTY AND FOGGY TO A LESSER DEGREE. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT ME FOR THOSE ROLES, IF YOUR NOT COMFORTABLE WITH THAT. THANK YOU.

Victor Muertos: (Mid to late twenties) Half Mexican/Half white (Half latino/half white will probably work). Black hair, down to chin and five o clock shadow. (Flexible though). Tall and thin but not too thin. Dark, brooding, depressed, prone to long winded sarcastic, cynical rants. Living off the state for mental depression, and addiction, but eventually breaks himself from the state. He hates the state, and normal life in general. He hates almost everything. He is sort of sloppy hipster, slightly emo, slight slight slight goth meets street kid. Light or no body mod, piercings, etc. He eventually lives on the street because of choice.He falls in love with Aiko. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUALS SITUATIONS REQUIRED-CAST

Aiko Zumbi (18-early twenties or look like it) Half Japanese/Half German (or Japanese, or half Japanese/Half white). Shorter than Victor, thin but still slightly curvy.
Street kid with a bit of dark hippie. Has been sexually abused as a child. Prone to violence. Prone to long winded rants, or sometimes just total silence. Dark, cynical, with a very bleak view of life. Body mods, tattoo's, piercings, fine. Dreaded or colored hair fine as well. Actually preffered. She falls in love with Victor. SOME NUDITY AND SEXUAL SITUATIONS REQUIRED.

SUPPORTING LEADS:
Pedida Muertos- (20's -40's)-Mexican- Victor's nearly catatonic - mute drug addict mother, who is usually messing around with strange men, and drugged up. Mostly abuses Victor through neglect. Mostly shown in flashbacks, but one scene in present as well. Young actress aged to look older in present, or vice versa.

Misty & Foggy (20's) two girls that Victor and Chad meet at the bar, who are wasted, and act and look like twins. Very ditzy, drunk, corporate, normal. They take Victor and Chad back to there place. Drunken debauchery ensues.

Spic 'N' Span (20's -40's)- One of the horrible mascots for the advertising firm Victor works for, "Spic n Span's Whiten it up" Cleaning product. They play racist cliched versions of mexican house workers. Think Samo. It's meant to be horrible, and it of course offends Victor.

Aiko's Father-
A militant cold hearted man who sexually abuses aiko. Must be bilingual Japanese & English

Aiko's Mother-
Always screaming at Aikos father. Bi-lingual fluent in German & English

VARIOUS:
Hipster's (18-30) Some with speaking roles. A house party Victor crashes.

Office workers (20's -on) Some with speaking roles.

Various small roles for the horrible commercials and promo's from the firm Victor briefly works for

What are you favourite stretches for certain parts of your body.

For my legs i.e. splits I love partner PNF stretches where the partner pushes and you resist and then relax. You get such a good deep stretch.

I'm making a film, that will be somewhat explicit in parts. Also, there will be imagery that needs nudity.
I am afraid that I will not be able to cut the content of the movie script, even if I find actors interested .You can e-mail me with rates, photos, questions, etc. If your an actor or actress who has worked in nudity and/or sexual situations, is comfortable with it, and would like to take on a feature narrative film as a major role please e-mail me or show up to the auditions. The two main roles are the ones that require it but there are others. If you would like to be featured in sequences that do not involve the main characters, but are part of dreamlike imagery you can either show up to the audition, or e-mail me with link to your work.

Emma May (20's to 30's) Actress must be thin, because character is anorexic. (Prefer Contortionist) Very fake, superficial, manic laughing. Very self deluded. She doesn't really see her anorexia as a problem, she think she looks great though she's obviously dieing and goes to extremes to keep herself thin. She is always dressed up elegantly and thinks of herself as a proper lady even when doing something grotesque . She is a head executive at a advertising/pr firm that she gets a Victor a brief job at, through meeting him in a class over there mutual addictions. (Brief Nudity /Partial a few times)

Caseworker Joe (30's-40's) Written has hispanic, but open. Larger guy, tall, built like a shed, a bit fat but not flabby fat. Very coarse, to the point, direct "Take no shit" kind of guy. Very normal, buys into the whole big house in the suburbs, good job, etc. He is Victor's Caseworker, and is tired of Victor's Shit, and believes he is not trying to quit. (None)

Glitters- a gay gangster rapper, take everything that's a cliche and horrible about it and flip it so that it's gay (some, will also need male models)

Pedida Muertos-Victors Mother. A nearly catatonic morally apprehensive drug addict who's always sleeping with random guys and ignoring her child (Some nudity/sexual situations can be negotiated to less)

And then random visuals, nudes for some flashback scenes (of some sort of psuedo porn the main characer shot) a girl that Victor sleeps with before he falls in love with Zumbi (requires brief nudity/sexuality) and some body part imagery that will not feature the face of the actor/actress, among other thing

The Carnival Takes Over The San Francisco Streets!

Ahhh yes, my beautiful family – it is happening!
An idea bred in our dear Douglas’s noggin’ for the opportunity to take some pretty pictures of beautiful people in interesting settings (or vice versa vice, vice vice versa, any way you want it) this Saturday, December 22nd we gather and call the streets ours!

This is a time of celebration, so let’s make this Solstice, the darkest day of the year, shine with colors that only those of the Circus wear – let’s friggin’ BLIND the confused passerby with our beauty, shed our own light, dark, odds and delicious ends, and create an exquisite mayhem!

This is purely Doug’s idea, but I think I’ll throw a bit more delicious magick into it, as this opportunity is far too good to pass up, and for some reason, the guy has given me free reign for the gathering of people… and I’ve decided that it’s time to shake some dust!

We’re making this an event.

This will be purely a playtime, joined by members of our dear friends and family (and Top Royalty of the San Francisco Circus Scene) VAU de VIRE SOCIETY & GOOFERMAN, so get your sweet, twisted asses in gear and come play with us. We’ll be doing what we do and looking our best, roaming the streets and finding various San Francisco scenes to play on and around, titillating the innocent passerby, and letting *them* shoose what kind of dreams they want to go home with. We won’t be cooped up in a club or ruled by the laws they need to abide by, not constricted by the limitations in the corporate world – this is OUR FUCKING DAY!

Let’s face it – the goddamn bunnies (gods, I loathe bunnies) have theirs, the Santa’s have theirs, the pirates, zombies, Pee Wee’s – the list goes on. Well, my dear, dear beautiful Circus Family, THIS will be ours. You know as much as I do how needed it is, and it’s far past due. (If it were a library book, we’d be fucked.)

The route for this Saturday is still being figured out by Doug, but the meeting place for this first year will be the Xenodrome, on 26th and Portrero in San Francisco.

The actual day it happens in the future will very likely change to a warmer one later, but this is the first, annual or whenever we feel like it, and like the Carnival, it could show up anywhere, anytime.

Please come this Saturday - to the very first of many - CARNIVALIA!

We will be thrilled to see you!

*** Doors, preparation and PHOTOS at Xenodrome - 9:00am, with Douglass & possibly Nightshade shooting pictures in our beautiful sets.

***Leaving Xenodrome at 11:30am, as sharp as we can get it!

The route is at this point a secret (even to us) and at times even might be decided by consulting the Oracles, so get your asses there by the time we leave, okay?

*Dress in your circus best, but dress warm – the weather is supposed to be a bit chilly, but no rain.

My name is Michelle Silva, and I am an Associate Producer for ABC's Wife Swap. For our 4th season, we are looking to feature a family of contortionists! We are seeking both families that consider contortionism a career as well as those who just do it for fun! Even if just one family member is involved, that's okay.

Any person who refers a featured family receives a $1,000 referral award.

hey all,

I've been browsing through this tribe for a bit and hoping for a little bit more activity then there has been. I found another tribe that was similar but was a bit risque for my tastes. So, perhaps a new moderator (or one at all) would be enough to give this group the boost that it needs. I'd be more than happy to fill the role, but volunteers are welcome as long as a general consensus can be made. In my opinion I feel that this is a community devoted towards the art of contortionism, and one where advice/questions/etc can be freely shared. Not a fetish site. >.< I'm interested in discussing relevant topics with fellow contortionists or aspiring ones.

We have the wonderful opportunity of providing entertainment for 60 days in Virginia Beach, VA.

We are putting together a Varity show.

We are looking for new upcoming acts that are exciting, different, and interactive.

Ok, so I can't put my leg behind my head. Not quite, not yet. I am unusually stretchy but I would like to be much more so. Does anyone know what it takes to get there? Any particular exercises? Any help would be appreciated.

I was chatting with someone the other day and they didn't know what contortionist meant. And when I explained, they thought it was strange. In fact, a LOT of people don't know.

I knew I was more than a little flexible when I was 7 years old. I would watch tv on the floor with my legs behind my head. I know a lot of little kids are flexible, but this continued. I was just naturally flexible.

I'm not as great as I used to be. But I can still freak some people out!

Anyone else get that reaction?
